18. Passing pedestrian crossings and vehicle stops
| 18.1. | A driver of a vehicle approaching an unregulated pedestrian crossing on which pedestrians are present must reduce speed and, if necessary, stop in order to give way to pedestrians for whom an obstacle or danger may be created. |
|---|---|
| 18.2. | At regulated pedestrian crossings and intersections, when a traffic light or traffic controller signal allows vehicles to move, the driver must give way to pedestrians who are finishing crossing the roadway of the relevant direction of movement and for whom an obstacle or danger may be created. |
| 18.3. | When passing by pedestrians who did not have time to finish crossing the roadway and are forced to remain on a safety island or a line separating traffic flows of opposite directions, drivers must maintain a safe interval. |
| 18.4. | If a vehicle slows down or stops before an unregulated pedestrian crossing, drivers of other vehicles moving in adjacent lanes must reduce speed and, if necessary, stop, and may continue (resume) movement only after making sure that there are no pedestrians on the pedestrian crossing for whom an obstacle or danger may be created. |
| 18.5. | In any place, a driver must allow pedestrians with visual impairment who give a signal with a white cane directed forward to pass. |
| 18.6. | It is prohibited to enter a pedestrian crossing if a traffic jam has formed beyond it that would force the driver to stop on that crossing. |
| 18.7. | Drivers must stop before a pedestrian crossing on the signal provided for by subparagraph "c" of paragraph 8.8 of these Rules if such a demand comes from members of a school patrol, a squad of young traffic inspectors properly equipped, or persons accompanying groups of children, and must give way to children crossing the roadway. |
| 18.8. | A driver of a vehicle must stop in order to give way to pedestrians walking from the side of the open doors to (or from) a tram standing at a stop if boarding or alighting is carried out from the roadway or from a boarding platform located on it. It is permitted to continue movement only when pedestrians leave the roadway and the tram doors are closed. |
| 18.9. | When approaching a vehicle marked with the identification sign "Children" that has stopped with orange flashing beacons and/or hazard warning lights switched on, drivers of vehicles moving in the adjacent lane must reduce speed and, if necessary, stop in order to avoid hitting children. |
