This exam question from the Traffic Rules of Ukraine tests the ability to safely and correctly determine the order of passage at intersections without traffic lights and priority signs. Such situations often occur in cities and on secondary streets, and a mistake in determining priority leads to trajectory conflicts and traffic accidents, making this topic fundamental for the theoretical exam and daily driving practice.

The question belongs to Section 16 of the Traffic Rules, specifically to clause 16.12 about intersections of roads with equal status. Here, the "right-hand rule" applies: each driver is required to yield to a vehicle approaching from the right (the definition of "yield" is explained in the terminology of the Traffic Rules). If you look at the situation from the perspective of each participant, the driver of your car has a white car to the right and cannot start moving until it passes. The driver of the white car, in turn, has an obstacle to the right in the form of a blue car, so must also wait. Only the blue car has no vehicle to its right, so it gets priority and passes first; then, after the obstacle to the right disappears, the white car moves, and last—your car.

That is why the option where your car goes first is incorrect: it ignores the obligation to yield to the "right-hand" participant. The option where the white car starts moving is also incorrect, because the white driver must yield to the blue car approaching from the right. Understanding this logic helps to quickly solve similar tasks on the theoretical exam: at an intersection of equal roads, the one who has no obstacle to the right moves first, and then the order is formed after the "right-hand" participant has passed and the obstacle has disappeared.

Clause 16.12

At an intersection of roads of equal importance, the driver of a non-rail vehicle must yield to vehicles approaching from the right. At any intersection, a tram has priority over non-rail vehicles regardless of its direction of movement.

Application: since the intersection is of equal importance, each driver is required to "yield" to the vehicle approaching the intersection from their right; therefore, the one who has no vehicle to their right proceeds first.

Clause 1.10 (term "Yield (do not create an obstacle)")

Yield (do not create an obstacle) — a requirement for a road user not to continue or resume movement, nor to perform any maneuver, if this may force other road users who have the right of way to change their direction or speed.

Application: the driver who has a vehicle to their right (i.e., the one who is required to "yield") does not start moving through the intersection until the one with the right of way has passed.

Clause 1.10 (term "Intersection")

Intersection — a place where roads cross, adjoin, or branch at the same level, the boundary of which is the imaginary lines between the beginning of the curves of the edges of the carriageways of each road. The place where an exit from an adjacent territory adjoins the road is not considered an intersection.

Application: the situation is considered specifically as passing through an intersection, for which the rules of Section 16 apply, in particular clause 16.12 for roads of equal importance.

That is, the correct answer is "Blue, white, your vehicle," given that according to the definition of the Traffic Rules at an intersection of roads of equal importance, each driver must yield to the vehicle approaching from the right, so the blue vehicle moves first (no obstacle on the right), then the white vehicle (after the obstacle on the right disappears), and lastly — your vehicle.

At an intersection of roads of equal importance, the order of movement is determined by the “give way to the vehicle on the right” rule. According to clause 16.12 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine, the driver is required to yield to vehicles approaching the intersection from the right.

Let’s look at the situation from the perspective of each driver. To your right is a white car, so it is your “obstacle on the right.” This means you cannot start moving until the white car has passed through the intersection.

For the white car, the “obstacle on the right” is the blue car. Therefore, the driver of the white car also does not have the right to go first and must yield to the blue car.

The blue car has no vehicle to its right that would have priority according to clause 16.12. Therefore, the blue car moves first. After the blue car passes, the white car no longer has an obstacle on the right and goes second. After the white car passes, you no longer have an obstacle on the right, so you go last.

Thus, the correct answer is “Blue, white, your car,” because at an intersection of equal roads, clause 16.12 of the Traffic Rules applies: “yield to the one on your right.” The blue car has no obstacle on the right, the white car yields to the blue car, and you yield to the white car.
