This examination question from the Traffic Rules of Ukraine tests the understanding of safe and lawful passage through intersections where a main road and a secondary road intersect at a single junction. Such situations are among the most common on the theoretical exam, as correctly determining priority reduces the risk of conflicts and accidents and teaches the driver to act predictably for other road users.

The content of the task assesses the topic of Section 16 of the Traffic Rules: passing intersections, in particular the application of points 16.11 and 16.14. First, it is determined who is moving on the main road and who is entering from the secondary: according to point 16.11, vehicles on the main road have priority regardless of their further direction, so they complete the passage before those on the secondary. Next, among participants who find themselves in identical priority conditions (for example, between two cars on the secondary), the order is determined by the "obstacle on the right" rule according to point 16.14: the driver must yield to the vehicle approaching from the right, so in this pair, the car on the right has the advantage.

When evaluating the answer options, the statement about passing first is incorrect, as it ignores the priority of the main road under point 16.11. The option involving yielding also to the blue car is also incorrect: among vehicles on the secondary road, the rule of point 16.14 applies, and the one who has an obstacle on the right is obliged to yield. In practice, this means a simple algorithm for the exam: first "let through" everyone on the main road, and only then resolve the conflict under equal conditions according to the right-hand rule.

Clause 16.11

At an intersection of roads with different priorities, the driver of a vehicle moving on a secondary road must yield to vehicles approaching this intersection on the main road, regardless of the direction of their further movement.

Explanation of application: in this task, the black and white cars are moving on the main road, so they have priority over your car (which is moving on the secondary road) — you may proceed only after them.

Clause 16.14

At an intersection of roads with equal priority, the driver of a non-rail vehicle must yield to vehicles approaching from the right.

Explanation of application: the order of passage between vehicles that find themselves in identical priority conditions (in particular, between cars on the main road with each other and between cars on the secondary road with each other) is determined by the "right-hand rule".

That is, the correct answer is "After the black and white cars," given that according to the Traffic Rules, vehicles on the main road have priority over those moving on the secondary road (clause 16.11), and mutual order in equal conditions is determined by the "right-hand rule" (clause 16.14).

At this intersection, we first determine who is traveling on the main road and who is on the secondary road. According to paragraph 16.11 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine, vehicles traveling on the main road have the right of way over those entering from the secondary road. Therefore, the white and black cars, which are on the main road, will in any case pass before us.

Next, to correctly determine our turn to proceed, it is enough to compare ourselves with vehicles under equal conditions, that is, those who are also on the secondary road. Here, our “conflicting” participant is the blue car, since it, like us, does not have priority over those on the main road.

Between vehicles on equal roads, the rule of paragraph 16.14 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine applies: the driver must yield to the vehicle approaching from the right. For the blue car, the obstacle on the right is our car, so the blue driver must yield to us. Thus, among the participants on the secondary road, we will pass before the blue car.

To summarize the order: first, the vehicles on the main road (black and white) pass through the intersection, and only after them do we proceed, since we are on the secondary road and have the right to continue only after the intersection is clear.

Therefore, the correct answer is "After the black and white cars," since according to paragraph 16.11, the cars on the main road have priority over us, and according to paragraph 16.14, on the secondary road, the blue car must yield to us as the vehicle on its right.
