Fake Driving Licenses: Growing Popularity of Forgeries and Online Fraud

The modern digital age, filled with diverse opportunities and technologies, is also becoming a period when fraudsters actively use the internet to distribute forged documents, particularly driving licenses. This problem not only threatens road safety but also undermines trust in government agencies and services.

In recent months, fake driving licenses have become a more frequent occurrence on Ukrainian roads. Police officers often stop drivers and discover documents that turn out to be forged when checked at MIA service centers. Mykola Rudyk, head of the Main Service Center of the MIA, reported that the number of such cases is growing rapidly.

According to the official's statements, the National Police has already taken notice of this issue, having identified more than 50 individuals who may be involved in the production of forged documents. Fraudsters, even resorting to using photographs of employees and officials of MIA service centers, are trying to undermine trust in official institutions.

One of the ways to combat this phenomenon is monitoring social networks where advertisements from fraudsters appear. Mykola Rudyk noted that more than 250 links to phishing sites have already been sent to the Cyber Police for further action.

However, it is extremely important for citizens to be able to distinguish original documents from fakes. Forged documents are usually very similar to originals, making their recognition difficult. Therefore, as Mykola Rudyk noted, the legitimacy of a document can be verified online on the official website of the MIA service center.

Such reports remind citizens of the importance of using only official services and not trusting dubious sources. One guarantee can be checking the "gov.ua" domain, which indicates verification of the official page account.

We remind you that criminal liability is provided for the production and use of forged documents. Citizens should consider these risks and follow only legal ways of obtaining driving licenses.
