Self-Registration for the Theory Exam: How to Go Through the Process Without a Driving School

The process of obtaining a driving license requires great responsibility and thorough preparation. For those who have decided to take the initiative and pass the theory exam without the help of a driving school, there is a specific procedure for registering and taking the exam at the MIA service center of Ukraine. Let us look at the steps of this process and provide useful tips for successfully completing it.

1. Preparation

The first step is preparation for the theory exam. This includes getting familiar with the Road Traffic Rules of Ukraine, which can be found in a dedicated handbook. It is also useful to use online trainers and preparation courses that help you test your knowledge. The PDR Test Center service offers a wide selection of interactive tests that will help you prepare for the theory exam.

2. Registration

To register for the theory exam, there are two convenient options: online booking via the website of the Main Service Center of the MIA or in person at the center's terminal. When registering, you should have the required documents with you, such as the passport of a citizen of Ukraine, a copy of the taxpayer identification code, and a medical certificate confirming fitness to drive a vehicle.

3. Taking the exam

The exam consists of 20 questions on the Road Traffic Rules, which are randomly selected from the total pool of tickets. The time for answers is limited to 20 minutes. The entire process takes place in an examination room equipped with video surveillance and computer equipment on which the exam is taken. To pass successfully, you must answer at least 18 questions correctly.

4. Exam results

After completing the exam, you will receive the results, which will be displayed on the computer screen immediately. If you pass successfully, you will be issued a successful completion slip that must be presented when registering for the practical exam. If the exam is not passed, there is an option to retake it after 7 days.

Tips for a successful exam:

- Thorough preparation is the key to success.
- Do not worry — the exam is not as difficult as it may seem.
- Read the questions and answer options carefully.
- If you are not sure, move on to the next question without wasting time — you can come back later.

Self-study and taking the theory exam at the MIA service center is a real opportunity for those who want to control their own process of obtaining a driving license. By following the steps and tips above, you can confidently pass this stage and begin your journey on the roads. Good luck on the road!

If you plan to switch to a manual, you need to complete training and pass the practical exam on a vehicle with a manual transmission to receive a license without this restriction.
