UAІз якого віку дозволено перевозити дітей у кузові вантажного автомобіля?
Question without image
This is an exam question from the Traffic Rules of Ukraine concerning the safety of transporting passengers, especially children, in cargo vehicles. The cargo bed of a truck does not provide the same level of protection as the passenger compartment: usually, there are no standard seats or restraint systems, so during braking, turning, or driving on uneven roads, the risk of falling and injury increases significantly.
The question tests knowledge of the section of the Traffic Rules regarding the transportation of passengers (paragraph 21.11, subparagraph "v"). This paragraph directly establishes a prohibition on transporting children under the age of 16 in the cargo bed of any truck. This wording sets a clear age limit: until reaching 16 years of age, transportation in the cargo bed is a violation, and it becomes permitted only after reaching this age.
During the theoretical exam, it is important not to confuse similar answer options (12, 13, 14, 15 years), as they do not comply with the Traffic Rules: the restriction is not set "from 12" or "from 14," but specifically prohibits transportation up to and including 16 years. In practice, this means that even a short trip, the presence of benches in the cargo bed, or adult supervision does not cancel the Traffic Rules requirement regarding the minimum age for such transportation.
Clause 21.11 (subclause "v")
It is prohibited to transport: "children under 16 years of age in the body of any cargo vehicle."
Brief application: this subclause directly establishes the age limit — until reaching 16 years of age, transporting children in the body of a cargo vehicle is prohibited, therefore it is only allowed from the age of 16.
That is, the correct answer is "From 16 years old," given that according to the definition of the Traffic Rules, it is prohibited to transport children under 16 years of age in the body of any cargo vehicle.
When transporting passengers in a truck, the legislator places special emphasis on safety, since the cargo bed of a truck does not provide the same level of protection as the cabin. The cargo bed lacks standard passenger seats and restraint systems, so any sudden braking, turning, or driving over bumps significantly increases the risk of falling and injury.
That is why the Traffic Rules of Ukraine set an age restriction. Clause 21.11, subclause (v) directly prohibits transporting children under the age of 16 in the cargo bed of any truck. That is, if the passenger is 15 years old or younger, transporting them in the cargo bed is a violation of the rules, regardless of whether the trip is short or not.
In practice, this means that even if benches are installed in the cargo bed or the child is traveling with adults, the very presence of a child under 16 years old in the cargo bed of a truck is unacceptable, because the child may not be able to react properly to the vehicle's maneuvers and could lose balance.
Therefore, the correct answer is "From the age of 16," since the Traffic Rules prohibit transporting children under 16 years old in the cargo bed of any truck.
