33.7.13. Which vehicle is parked incorrectly?
UAЯкий транспортний засіб поставлено на стоянку неправильно?
This exam question from the Traffic Rules of Ukraine tests attentiveness to road signs and plates that regulate stopping and parking. Proper understanding of such markings directly affects road safety: incorrect parking can create obstacles for pedestrians, reduce visibility, and provoke dangerous situations, which is why much attention is paid to this topic in the theoretical exam.
In terms of content, this question belongs to the sections of the Traffic Rules regarding road signs (information and direction signs) and plates to signs. The combination of sign 5.42.1 "Parking place" with plate 7.6.2 "Method of parking the vehicle" not only indicates where parking is permitted, but also specifies for which vehicles and in what manner parking near the curb is allowed using this marking. According to the Traffic Rules of Ukraine, plate 7.6.2 applies specifically to passenger cars and motorcycles, and the requirements of the signs (together with the plates) are mandatory for compliance.
That is why a motorcycle with a sidecar, as a type of motorcycle, falls under the effect of plate 7.6.2, and if placed as shown in the diagram, does not constitute a violation. In contrast, a truck does not belong to the types of vehicles for which this plate defines the method and conditions of parking, so its placement in such a spot is considered incorrect. The option "all are correct" is not suitable, because the restriction by type of vehicle is key here, and this is exactly what this exam question for the theoretical test checks.
Clause 33.5 — 33 “Road signs”, 5 “Information and guidance signs”, sign 5.42.1 “Parking place”
“Sign 5.42.1 ‘Parking place’ is used to indicate locations and areas designated for the parking of vehicles.”
Clause 33.7 — 33 “Road signs”, 7 “Plates to road signs”, plate 7.6.2 “Method of parking a vehicle”
“Plate 7.6.2 ‘Method of parking a vehicle’ indicates the method of parking passenger cars and motorcycles at the curb and with its use.”
Brief application: the requirement of plate 7.6.2 applies specifically to passenger cars and motorcycles; a truck does not belong to the vehicles for which this sign (in combination with the plate) determines the method/conditions of parking.
Clause 8.4 (general requirement to comply with regulatory signals — road signs)
Road users are required to comply with the requirements of road signs (including signs used together with plates to them).
Clause 1.10 (term “Passenger car”)
Passenger car — a car that, by its design and equipment, is intended for the carriage of passengers and has no more than nine seats including the driver's seat.
Clause 1.10 (term “Truck”)
Truck — a car that, by its design and equipment, is intended for the carriage of goods.
That is, the correct answer is “Truck.” Given that according to the definition of the Traffic Rules, plate 7.6.2 establishes the method of parking only for passenger cars and motorcycles, and a truck does not belong to these vehicles and therefore is parked in violation of the requirements of the sign with the plate.
The image shows sign 5.42 "Parking place," which indicates that parking is allowed at this location. However, it is accompanied by plate 7.6.2 "Method of parking the vehicle," which specifies how and by whom vehicles may be parked in this area.
Plate 7.6.2 determines the method of positioning a vehicle near the curb with its use, and according to the Traffic Rules, it applies only to passenger cars and motorcycles. That is, it does not simply "show a picture of parking," but actually restricts the types of vehicles that are allowed to be parked in the specified manner at this location.
Therefore, passenger cars parked as shown on the plate comply with the requirements. A truck, even if it is within this parking area, does not fall under the effect of plate 7.6.2, because it does not provide for such a parking method for trucks. Thus, it is the truck that is parked in violation of the plate's requirements.
Therefore, the correct answer is "The truck," since plate 7.6.2 allows this method of parking only for passenger cars and motorcycles, and not for trucks.
