This exam question from the Traffic Rules of Ukraine tests the driver's ability to safely determine the order of movement at intersections where priority signs are in effect. Such situations are typical in cities and are especially risky when turning left: a mistake in determining who has the right of way leads to crossing paths and accidents. For the theoretical exam, it is important not to "guess," but to clearly apply the traffic rules and read the plates accompanying the signs.

In essence, this task is from the section of the Traffic Rules about passing intersections of roads with unequal importance, when the main road changes direction (points 16.11 and 16.14). Vehicles coming from secondary directions are required to yield to those traveling on the main road (16.11). However, among the vehicles that find themselves on the main road due to its change in direction, there is no longer a "higher" priority: they pass each other as at an intersection of equal roads, according to the "give way to the vehicle on the right" rule (16.14 in combination with 16.12).

Therefore, the option where you need to yield to the truck and the white car is incorrect: they are approaching from a secondary road and do not have priority over those on the main road. The option "yield only to the red car" is also incorrect, because in this configuration, the logic "the oncoming vehicle always has priority when turning left" as in a usual situation does not apply: when the main road "turns," the decisive factor becomes the right-hand rule among those on the main road. Thus, the correct action follows from the fact that the other vehicle on the main road has a vehicle to its right and therefore must yield, and this is the logic assessed by the theoretical exam.

Clause 16.11

At an intersection of roads of unequal importance, the driver of a vehicle moving on a secondary road must yield to vehicles approaching on the main road, regardless of their further direction of movement.

Brief application: the truck and the white car (from the secondary road) must yield to those moving on the main road (your car and the red car).

Clause 16.14

If the main road changes direction at the intersection, drivers of vehicles moving on it must follow the rules for passing intersections of roads of equal importance between themselves. The same rule should be followed between drivers of vehicles moving on secondary roads.

Brief application: since the main road "turns" (changes direction) at the intersection, your car and the red car (both on the main road) determine the order between themselves as at an intersection of equal roads.

Clause 16.12

At an intersection of roads of equal importance, the driver of a non-rail vehicle must yield to vehicles approaching from the right.

Brief application: between you and the red car, the "obstacle on the right" rule applies (priority goes to the one who does not have a vehicle to their right). In this situation, the red car has you on its right, so it must yield to you — therefore, you go first.

Clause 1.10 (term "Main road")

Main road — a road with a hard surface relative to a dirt road or one marked by priority signs (in particular, sign 2.3 "Main road").

Brief application: according to the available priority sign (and the direction plate), it is determined that you are moving on the main road.

Clause 1.10 (term "Secondary road")

Secondary road — a road that is not the main road.

Brief application: directions not indicated as main by the "Main road direction" plate are secondary — their drivers must yield to those on the main road (clause 16.11).

Clause 1.10 (term "Yield")

Yield — the requirement for a road user not to continue or resume movement, or perform any maneuver, if this may force other road users who have priority to change their direction or speed.

Brief application: the red car, having determined that you are the vehicle on its right (according to the rules for equal intersections via clause 16.14), is obliged to "yield" to you.

Clause 33.2.1 — 33 "Road signs", 2 "Priority signs", sign 2.3 "Main road"

Sign 2.3 "Main road" indicates that the road on which it is installed is the main road.

Brief application: confirms your priority over vehicles from secondary directions (in conjunction with clause 16.11).

Clause 33.7.8 — 33 "Road signs", 7 "Plates to road signs", plate 7.8 "Main road direction"

Plate 7.8 "Main road direction" shows the direction of the main road at the intersection.

Brief application: this plate indicates that the main road at the intersection changes direction, so clause 16.14 applies (mutual passing according to the rules for equal roads).

That is, the correct answer is "Pass the intersection first," given that you are moving on the main road (clause 16.11, sign 2.3 with plate 7.8), and with another vehicle on the main road, the order is determined as at an intersection of equal roads according to the "obstacle on the right" rule (clause 16.14 in combination with clause 16.12).

At this intersection, priority signs are installed with a plate indicating that the main road changes direction. This means that the 'priority' does not go straight through the intersection but turns. According to this scheme, we and the red car are on the main road, while the truck and the white car are approaching from secondary directions and are required to yield to vehicles on the main road (paragraph 16.11 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine).

Next, an important nuance: when the main road changes direction at an intersection, drivers traveling on the main road determine the order among themselves as if it were an intersection of roads of equal importance, that is, according to the 'give way to the vehicle on your right' rule (paragraph 16.14 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine). Therefore, with the red car, we are not 'more or less important'—we are equal in priority, and the order is determined by which vehicle is on the right.

In our situation, for the driver of the red car, we are the obstacle on the right, so he must yield to us. Accordingly, we pass through the intersection first, after which the red car will go through the intersection. Only then can vehicles from the secondary roads proceed, also determining the order among themselves according to the 'give way to the vehicle on your right' rule in accordance with paragraph 16.14.

Therefore, the correct answer is "Pass through the intersection first," since we are traveling on the main road, and with the other vehicle on the main road, the order is determined by the 'give way to the vehicle on your right' rule (paragraphs 16.11 and 16.14 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine).
