This exam question from the Traffic Rules of Ukraine tests the basic skill of safely passing intersections when there are no traffic lights or priority signs. It is at such locations that mistakes most often occur due to misunderstanding of 'who must yield,' so for the theoretical exam, it is important to be able to quickly determine priority and not create obstacles for other road users.

In terms of content, the question belongs to the section of the Traffic Rules regarding passing intersections, specifically to point 16.12 about uncontrolled intersections of roads of equal importance. Here, the order is determined by the 'obstacle on the right' rule: priority is given to the vehicle approaching from the right, and the driver is required to 'yield' in the sense of not continuing to move if this would force another vehicle with priority to change speed or trajectory. Additionally, it is important to remember point 16.13: when turning left, you must yield only to oncoming vehicles going straight or turning right, not to 'everyone indiscriminately.'

If you compare the options, the order in which your car goes first contradicts the rule of an equal intersection, since in this case the priority for the one on the right is ignored. The option in which the red car goes first is also incorrect: as long as there is an 'obstacle on the right,' it cannot have priority; the rule about turning left does not override the priority under point 16.12 and is considered only in the presence of oncoming traffic. Therefore, the correct logic for this exam question is as follows: first goes the one who has no obstacle on the right, then the next one proceeds after the right side is clear, and only then does your car go.

Clause 16.12

At uncontrolled intersections of roads of equal importance, the driver of a non-rail vehicle must give way to vehicles approaching from the right.

Application: at an intersection of roads of equal importance, the order of passage is determined by the "right-hand rule" (you yield to the vehicle on your right).

Clause 16.13

When turning left or making a U-turn at an intersection, the driver must give way to vehicles moving in the opposite direction on an equal road that are going straight or turning right.

Application: if someone is turning left at the intersection, they are additionally required to yield to oncoming traffic going straight/right (this rule applies specifically to oncoming traffic, not "everyone in general").

Clause 1.10 (term "Give way (do not obstruct)")

Give way (do not obstruct) — a requirement for a road user not to continue or resume movement, or perform any maneuver, if this may force other road users who have priority to change their direction or speed.

Application: it is in this sense that the obligation to "give way" is used in clauses 16.12 and 16.13 — that is, not to create a situation where another with priority has to change speed/trajectory.

Clause 1.10 (term "Priority")

Priority — the right to move first in relation to other road users.

Application: after determining who has "priority" according to clause 16.12 (and if necessary, taking into account clause 16.13), the order of passage through the intersection is established.

That is, the correct answer is "Black, red, your vehicles," given that according to the definition of the Traffic Rules at an uncontrolled intersection of equal roads, the rule "give way to the vehicle on the right" (clause 16.12) applies, and turning left imposes an additional obligation to yield to oncoming traffic only if it is present (clause 16.13).

In front of us is an uncontrolled intersection of roads of equal importance. This means there are neither traffic lights nor priority signs, so the order of passage is determined by the general rule for intersections of equal roads.

According to clause 16.12 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine, at an intersection of roads of equal importance, the driver must yield to the vehicle approaching from the right. That is, those who have no "obstacle" on their right go first, and those who have another car on their right must let it pass.

Let’s assess the situation for each participant. The black car has no vehicle on its right that would have priority over it. Therefore, the black car is not required to yield to anyone under the "obstacle on the right" rule and can go first.

After the black car passes, the obstacle on the right for the red car disappears. Therefore, the red car gets the opportunity to go next. It is important to remember: the requirement "when turning left, yield to oncoming vehicles going straight or turning right" applies specifically to the oncoming direction on an equal road. In this task, such an obstacle for the red car is essentially absent, so it can complete the maneuver second.

Your car initially has a vehicle on the right that has priority, so you cannot start moving earlier. After the black car, and then the red car, have passed, there is no longer an obstacle on your right, and you go last.

Thus, the correct answer is "Black, red, your cars," since at an uncontrolled intersection of roads of equal importance, the order is determined by the rule in clause 16.12 of the Traffic Rules (priority to the vehicle on the right), and only the black car has no obstacle on the right, after it goes the red car, and then your car.
