This exam question from the Traffic Rules of Ukraine checks the safe and lawful passage through intersections when there is no traffic light, traffic controller, or priority signs. In such situations, drivers often mistakenly rely on the idea that their paths supposedly "do not interfere" with each other. However, in the theoretical driving exam, what is assessed is adherence to the order of passage and priority requirements, which directly affects the risk of accidents and the determination of fault.

The content of the task belongs to the section of the Traffic Rules regarding passing through intersections, specifically the rules for driving at intersections of roads with equal status. The key provision is item 16.12: at an intersection of equal roads, the "obstacle on the right" rule applies, meaning the driver must yield to a vehicle approaching from the right. Additionally, it is important to remember item 16.13 regarding obligations when turning left, but in this type of question, the order is primarily determined by the "right-hand rule."

The analysis of the answer options is based on priority: you cannot go first if there is a vehicle to your right that you must yield to, so the option "first" contradicts item 16.12. The option "after the gray car" is also incorrect because the gray car in this configuration must yield to those who are an "obstacle on the right" for it and does not have priority over you. Therefore, the correct order is that the car to your right passes first, then you continue, and the other participant completes the passage last.

Clause 16.12

At an intersection of roads of equal importance, the driver of a non-rail vehicle must give way to vehicles approaching from the right.

Brief application: since the intersection is of equal importance, the “right-hand obstacle” rule applies. For our car, the green car is on the right, so it has priority and goes first; after that, the “right-hand obstacle” disappears — and we can proceed.

Clause 16.13

Before turning left or making a U-turn, the driver of a non-rail vehicle is required to give way to a tram moving in the same direction, as well as to vehicles moving straight or turning right from the opposite direction.

Brief application: when making a left turn at an intersection, it is additionally necessary to check the obligation to yield to those moving straight/right from the opposite direction (and to a tram in the same direction). In this task, the key rule for the order is clause 16.12 (equal intersection and “right-hand obstacle”).

That is, the correct answer is "After the green car.", given that according to the Traffic Rules, at an intersection of roads of equal importance, the driver is required to give way to the vehicle approaching from the right (the green car for us is the “right-hand obstacle”).

In front of us is an intersection of roads with equal priority, meaning there are neither priority signs nor a traffic light. In this situation, the order of passage is determined by the general rules established for intersections of equal priority.

According to clause 16.12 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine, at an intersection of roads with equal priority, the driver must yield to vehicles approaching from the right. This rule applies regardless of whether the actual paths of movement intersect: the exam question specifically checks the order of passage, not the possibility of "passing simultaneously."

In our situation, the green car is to our right, so for us, it is an obstacle on the right. This means we must yield to it and not begin to move through the intersection before it does. At the same time, for the green car, there is no vehicle to its right that would have priority over it, so it can go first.

When the green car passes, the obstacle on the right for us disappears, and we gain the right to proceed next. The gray car, in turn, will have an obstacle on the right and will be forced to complete the passage last. This order is also consistent with clause 16.13 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine, which establishes the driver's obligation to comply with priority requirements and yield in cases provided for by the rules.

Therefore, the correct answer is "After the green car," since at an intersection of equal priority we are required to yield to the vehicle on the right, and the green car is precisely to our right and therefore has priority.
