This is an exam question from the Traffic Rules of Ukraine about the safe passage of uncontrolled intersections and the correct determination of priority. It teaches not to rely on "intuition," but to read priority road signs and plates to understand who is on the main road and who must yield. Such situations are typical for the theoretical exam because mistakes in determining the order of passage most often lead to conflicts and accidents.

The question tests the section of the Traffic Rules regarding passing intersections, in particular the application of points 16.11 and 16.14, as well as understanding the role of the "Main Road" sign and the "Direction of the Main Road" plate. Since the main road changes direction at the intersection, drivers traveling on it must pass each other as if on roads of equal priority (point 16.14), that is, according to the "obstacle on the right" principle. Additionally, the advantage of a tram at an uncontrolled intersection in a conflict situation with non-rail vehicles is taken into account, so it must be allowed to pass before continuing to drive.

If evaluating the answer options, the mistake in the option "yield only to the tram" is that after the tram passes, the order of movement between cars on the main road is determined by the rule for intersections of equal priority, and the vehicle on the right also has the advantage. The option "pass the intersection first" contradicts both the tram's priority and the "obstacle on the right" principle. The correct logic is as follows: first the tram passes, then non-rail vehicles on the main road pass according to point 16.14, so the driver must finish passing after the vehicle to the right.

Clause 16.11

At an intersection of roads with different priorities, the driver of a vehicle moving on a secondary road must give way to vehicles approaching on the main road, regardless of the direction of their further movement.

This clause checks the understanding that vehicles on the main road (in this task — you, the tram, and the blue car) have priority over those who might be entering from the secondary road.

Clause 16.12

At an intersection of roads with equal priority, a tram has priority over non-rail vehicles regardless of the direction of its further movement, except at intersections where a roundabout is organized.

Application here: even if you and the blue car are on the main road, in a conflict situation at an uncontrolled intersection, the tram has priority over non-rail vehicles — so you must yield to the tram.

Clause 16.14

If at an uncontrolled intersection the main road changes direction, drivers of vehicles moving along it must follow the rules for passing intersections of roads with equal priority among themselves.

Application here: after the tram passes, the order between non-rail vehicles moving on the main road is determined as at intersections of equal roads (according to the "obstacle on the right" rule), so you must yield to the blue car.

Clause 33.2 — 33 "Road Signs", 2 "Priority Signs", sign 2.3 "Main Road"

Sign 2.3 "Main Road" — a road that is given priority at uncontrolled intersections.

This explains why vehicles moving on this road have priority over those moving on the secondary road (in connection with clause 16.11).

Clause 33.7 — 33 "Road Signs", 7 "Plates to Road Signs", plate 7.8 "Direction of the Main Road"

Plate 7.8 "Direction of the Main Road" — shows the direction of the main road at the intersection.

This directly leads to the application of clause 16.14 (the main road at the intersection changes direction, so among those moving on the main road, the order is as at intersections of equal roads).

That is, the correct answer is "Cross the intersection after the tram and the blue car," given that according to the definition of the Traffic Rules, the tram has priority over non-rail vehicles at an uncontrolled intersection (clause 16.12), and after the tram, the order between vehicles on the main road is determined as at intersections of equal roads (clause 16.14), so you must yield to the blue car (obstacle on the right).

In front of us is an uncontrolled intersection where the main road changes direction. This is indicated by the priority sign and the plate showing the direction of the main road: vehicles moving along the “thick” line are on the main road, while those on the “thin” line are on the secondary road. Our car, the tram, and the blue car are moving along the main road, so they have priority over possible participants coming from the secondary road.

Since the main road changes direction at the intersection, the order between vehicles moving along the main road is determined as if they approached from roads of equal status. This directly follows from point 16.14 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine: drivers on the main road must “yield” to each other according to the rules for intersections of equal roads, that is, applying the “give way to the right” principle.

The tram passes first in this situation. At uncontrolled intersections, the tram has priority over non-rail vehicles when moving in equivalent directions, which obliges us not to cut across its path. The tram is turning left and crosses our straight path, so we must stop and allow it to complete its maneuver.

After the tram has passed, two non-rail vehicles remain on the main road: our car and the blue car. Now the “give way to the right” rule applies according to point 16.14: the driver must yield to the vehicle approaching from the right. For us, the blue car is such a vehicle, so we yield to it and proceed through the intersection after it.

Therefore, the correct answer is: “Proceed through the intersection after the tram and the blue car,” since the tram has priority at an uncontrolled intersection, and after it passes, the order between cars on the main road is determined by the “give way to the right” rule (point 16.14), and the blue car is to our right.
