16.1.10. How should the driver of the red car, who intends to turn right, act in this situation?

This exam question from the Traffic Rules of Ukraine tests knowledge of safe passage through regulated intersections and the correct response to traffic light signals in combination with a green arrow sign. Such situations often occur in the city: the driver sees a prohibitive red signal but has the opportunity to make a turn in the permitted direction without creating danger for other road users.

Clause 16.9
When moving in the direction of the arrow illuminated in the additional section simultaneously with the yellow or red traffic light signal, the driver must give way to vehicles moving from other directions. When moving in the direction of the green arrow on the plate installed at the level of the red traffic light signal with vertically arranged signals, the driver must take the extreme right (left) lane and give way to vehicles and pedestrians moving from other directions.
