This exam question from the Traffic Rules of Ukraine tests knowledge of stopping and parking rules in urban conditions, where it is important not only to choose the “correct side,” but above all to ensure pedestrian safety and sufficient visibility. Such situations often occur near pedestrian crossings, so the theoretical exam specifically emphasizes prohibited stopping zones, even when the road seems “convenient” for parking.

According to the content of the task, this relates to Section 15 of the Traffic Rules (stopping and parking) in combination with the effect of informational and indicative signs. Sign 5.5 confirms that the traffic is one-way, and therefore in a populated area, stopping on the left side is generally allowed (para. 15.3), but this possibility does not cancel the prohibition near a pedestrian crossing. The key rule here is para. 15.9 (d): stopping is prohibited on a pedestrian crossing and closer than 10 meters from it on both sides, unless the driver stopped to give way. That is why violators are vehicles located within this 10-meter zone, regardless of whether they are on the right or left side.

If you analyze the answer options, combinations with the “yellow” car are incorrect, because it stopped at a permitted distance from the crossing and therefore does not fall under the prohibition of para. 15.9 (d). The option indicating only two cars is also incorrect, since there is a violation by a third vehicle, which also stopped closer than 10 meters to the crossing. The statement that all are violating is not suitable, because one car is located outside the prohibited zone. The practical conclusion for the exam and real trips is simple: on a one-way street in a city, you can stop on the left, but you must always measure a safe distance from the pedestrian crossing, as this is most often checked in such tasks.

Clause 15.3

In populated areas, stopping and parking of vehicles are allowed on the left side of the road, which has one lane in each direction (without tram tracks in the middle) and is not divided by a solid road marking line 1.1, as well as on the left side of a one-way road.

Application: on a one-way road in a populated area, stopping on the left is generally allowed, but only in the absence of other prohibitions (in particular, regarding pedestrian crossings).

Clause 15.9 (d)

Stopping is prohibited on pedestrian crossings and within 10 m of them on both sides, except in cases of giving way.

Application: any vehicle that stops on the crossing or within 10 m before/after it (on both sides of the road) violates the rules, unless it is forced to stop to give way.

Clause 33.5 — 33 "Road signs", 5 "Informational and guiding signs", sign 5.5 "One-way road"

A road or carriageway on which vehicle movement is carried out in one direction across the entire width.

Application: confirms that this is indeed a one-way road, where (considering clause 15.3) in a populated area stopping on the left side is allowed, but the prohibitions from clause 15.9 are not canceled.

Clause 33.5 — 33 "Road signs", 5 "Informational and guiding signs", sign 5.38.1 "Pedestrian crossing"

Indicates a pedestrian crossing.

Application: indicates the location of the pedestrian crossing, from which the prohibited stopping zone is measured according to clause 15.9 (d) (on the crossing and within 10 m of it on both sides).

Clause 1.10 (term "Stopping")

Stopping — cessation of movement of a vehicle for up to 5 minutes or more, if necessary for boarding (alighting) passengers or loading (unloading) cargo, or fulfilling the requirements of these Rules.

Application: the question concerns stopping (not parking), i.e., the fact of cessation of movement and compliance/violation of the prohibitions provided in section 15 is assessed.

Thus, the correct answer is "Blue, white, and green.", given that according to the definition of the Traffic Rules, stopping on a pedestrian crossing and within 10 m of it on both sides is prohibited (clause 15.9 (d)), and the road is one-way (sign 5.5), which does not cancel this prohibition.

The diagram shows a one-way road (sign 5.5). For such a road within a populated area, stopping is allowed both on the right and on the left, so the mere fact of stopping on the left side is not a violation here.

However, in this task, the key restriction is not related to the side of the stop, but to the proximity to the pedestrian crossing. According to clause 15.9 (d) of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine, stopping is prohibited directly on a pedestrian crossing and also prohibited closer than 10 meters to it on both sides. An exception is possible only if the driver stopped to give way to other road users, but under the conditions of this situation, there is no such necessity.

In the illustration, the green car is located in the prohibited zone near the pedestrian crossing, that is, closer than 10 meters. Similarly, the blue and white cars stopped on the right side of the road at an unacceptable distance from the crossing, and their stop is not related to yielding to pedestrians or other road users. The yellow car, on the contrary, is parked at a permitted distance, so there is no violation on its part.

Therefore, the correct answer is "Blue, white, and green," since these cars stopped on the pedestrian crossing or closer than 10 meters to it on both sides, which is prohibited by clause 15.9 (d) of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine.
