15.34. Which vehicle is parked incorrectly?
UAЯкий транспортний засіб поставлено на стоянку неправильно?
This exam question from the Traffic Rules of Ukraine tests knowledge of stopping and parking rules, as well as the ability to read road signs together with supplementary plates. Proper parking directly affects road safety: parking on the sidewalk can create obstacles for pedestrians, reduce visibility, and provoke conflict situations, especially in parking zones where drivers often prioritize "convenience" over the requirements of the traffic rules.
According to the content of the ticket, this relates to Section 15 "Stopping and Parking," specifically point 15.6 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine, as well as informational and indicative signs 5.42.1 "Parking Place" / 5.43 "Parking Zone" and plates 7.6.2–7.6.7 "Method of Parking the Vehicle." An important idea for the theoretical exam: the plate does not just show how you can park the car, it determines exactly who is allowed to park in that way. If plates 7.6.2–7.6.7 (with partial entry onto the sidewalk) are installed under the parking sign, such placement is allowed only for passenger cars and motorcycles, and only in the manner depicted on the plate.
The analysis of the options in this exam question is simple: a passenger car and a motorcycle with a sidecar belong to the categories for which point 15.6 allows parking with partial entry onto the sidewalk in the specified zone, provided the scheme on the plate is followed. In contrast, a truck, according to the definitions in the Traffic Rules, is a separate type of vehicle (regardless of weight), and is not covered by the permission of plates 7.6.2–7.6.7, so it is the one parked in violation; accordingly, the statement that "all are parked correctly" is incorrect.
Clause 15.6 (Section 15 "Stopping and Parking")
Parking of all vehicles in places where road signs 5.42.1 or 5.43 with plate 7.6.1 are installed is allowed on the carriageway along the sidewalk, and with one of the plates 7.6.2 — 7.6.7 — passenger cars and motorcycles only in the manner shown on the plate.
Clause 33.5 — 33 "Road Signs", 5 "Information and Direction Signs", sign 5.42.1 "Parking Place"
Sign 5.42.1 "Parking Place" indicates a place where parking of vehicles is permitted.
Clause 33.5 — 33 "Road Signs", 5 "Information and Direction Signs", sign 5.43 "Parking Zone"
Sign 5.43 "Parking Zone" indicates the beginning of a zone where parking of vehicles is permitted.
Clause 33.7 — 33 "Road Signs", 7 "Plates to road signs", plates 7.6.1–7.6.7 "Method of parking a vehicle" (in particular 7.6.2)
Plates 7.6.1–7.6.7 "Method of parking a vehicle" are used with signs 5.42.1 or 5.43 and indicate the method of parking vehicles (including 7.6.2 — parking with partial entry onto the sidewalk, as shown on the plate).
Clause 1.10 (term "Truck")
Truck — a vehicle that by its design and equipment is intended for the transportation of goods.
Clause 1.10 (term "Passenger car")
Passenger car — a vehicle with no more than nine seats, including the driver's seat, which by its design and equipment is intended for the transportation of passengers and their luggage while ensuring the necessary comfort and safety.
That is, the correct answer is "Truck.", given that according to clause 15.6 of the Traffic Rules and the content of plates 7.6.2–7.6.7, parking on the sidewalk in the specified place is allowed only for passenger cars and motorcycles (in the manner shown on the plate), and a truck does not fall into this category.
In this situation, you need to focus not on convenience, but on who is actually allowed to park a vehicle with entry onto the sidewalk. This is determined by the road signs “Parking Place” or “Parking Zone” together with the “Parking Method” plate.
Clause 15.6 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine establishes the following rule: if plates 7.6.2–7.6.7 are installed under the parking sign, only passenger cars and motorcycles have the right to park as shown on the plate (with partial entry onto the sidewalk). That is, the plate does not simply “show an option,” but restricts who can use it.
Therefore, a passenger car and a motorcycle parked according to the depicted method do not constitute a violation. However, a truck does not belong to the category of “passenger cars,” and even if it is not heavy in weight, by definition it is a cargo vehicle, for which this method of parking on the sidewalk is not permitted by the rules.
Thus, the correct answer is “The truck,” since according to clause 15.6 of the Traffic Rules, parking with entry onto the sidewalk as per plate 7.6.2 is allowed only for passenger cars and motorcycles, and the truck does not belong to these categories.
